Icebreaker at OdySea Aquarium

Join us for the 2019 AZA Mid-Year Meeting Icebreaker at OdySea Aquarium. Meet an amazing team, sharks, penguins, sting rays and even a sloth! Located in Scottsdale, the Aquarium offers educational, interactive and entertaining experience for guests of all ages.
Take part in a unique evening of fun and learning at the aquarium recently voted best indoor attraction in Arizona. Explore the Aquarium’s exhibits, take the plunge underwater with SeaTREK (first come first served basis – contact Andrés Polk to reserve your spot!), enjoy behind the scenes tours, touch sting rays, and be charmed by the antics of river otters and penguins. Experience the world’s only rotating exhibit, America’s No. 1 restroom, and hanging fish globes. Sample Southwest cuisine at food and beverage stations, and enjoy live music!
One ticket to the Icebreaker is included with a full or 3-day registration (when Monday is selected). Additional tickets can be purchased for $40 per person.
Buses will leave from the Grand Veranda of the Conference Center beginning at 6:00 pm. Last bus will leave the Aquarium at 9:15 pm. Buses will not run continuously through the evening.
Zoo Day at Phoenix Zoo
Tuesday, April 16, 1:30 - 8:30 pm
With amazing exhibits and experiences like nowhere else, the Phoenix Zoo opens a world of wonder and discovery every time you visit. The Zoo features more than 3,000 animals, with nearly 400 species represented on 125 acres. Some of the Zoo’s famous inhabitants include Arabian oryx, a southern white rhinoceros, Mexican grey wolves, Komodo dragons and not to be forgotten, the Valley’s most adorable resident: Fernando, a Linne's two-toed sloth. Nestled in the heart of Papago Park, the Phoenix Zoo is the only zoo in the Valley accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a non-profit zoological park enjoyed by more than 1.4 million guests each year.
On Zoo Day, join us for adventure throughout the zoo including behind-the-scenes tours, as staff and volunteers will be excited to share with you about the exhibits, animals and programs. Convene in the heart of the Zoo at 4:45 pm for cocktails and appetizers served lakeside with lively tunes provided by DJ Mars or indoors for a more quiet experience. A Southwest inspired dinner will be offered by Lancer Hospitality from 4:45 pm – 8:00 pm.

Post-Conference Tour - Reid Park Zoo & Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
Friday, April 19, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
Reid Park Zoo, is a hidden gem nestled in the center of Tucson, known for its world-class African elephant habitat featuring a herd of five African elephants. Tours include the new Animal Health Center, elephant barn and the Conservation Learning Center. In the afternoon, visit Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, a world-renowned zoo, natural history museum and botanical garden, all in one place. Exhibits re-create the natural landscape of the Sonoran Desert Region with more than 230 animal species and 1,200 kinds of plants along almost 2 miles of paths traversing 21 acres of beautiful desert.
There is an additional $75 per person charge. Fee includes transportation, lunch, and afternoon reception. Attendees will leave from the Arizona Grand Resort at 7:00 am and return by 7:00 pm.
