Tuesday, April 16, 8:00 A.M.
General Session Guest Speaker
Advocate, Author, Teacher, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation
Sharing stories of her love of animals, her new children’s book and her passion for saving endangered species, Chelsea Clinton will address AZA Mid-Year Meeting attendees on Tuesday, April 16 during the general session. A book signing and sale will follow beginning at 10:30 am.
Author of several children’s books including the #1 New York Times bestselling picture book She Persisted, Chelsea Clinton will collaborate with acclaimed author and illustrator Gianna Marino on a new picture book about the animals who share our planet, and what we can do to help them survive. Scheduled for publication on April 2, 2019, Don’t Let Them Disappear
will introduce young readers to a selection of endangered animals, and share what makes them special, and also what threatens them. Featuring illustrations by Gianna Marino, the book will follow rhinos, tigers, whales, pandas and other endangered animals through the course of a day, and provide helpful tips on what we all can do to help prevent these animals from disappearing from our world entirely. The book will be published in simultaneous English and Spanish-language editions by Philomel Books, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers.
“All animals play a crucial part in the health of our planet, and it's devastating to think that even one species - like African elephants or rhinos - could be extinct in our or our children's lifetimes,” said Chelsea Clinton. “I've seen the positive impact that young people, even our youngest readers, can have in areas they’re passionate about. That is why I'm so excited to share this book about animals that are deserving of our attention, respect, and in desperate need of our protection. I hope that all readers will take away an understanding of what we each can do to help save the animals that mean the most to us and our world.”
